Advent Challenge!

Good evening lovelies.

Happy twenty-first day of Advent and Happy Solstice.

With much love.

Keeping hands warm.

I have been knitting, knitting, knitting. My fingers are a little bit sore but it was worth it.

With a little inspiration from Ngo Family Farm, I have made a few pairs of these fingerless gloves pour ma famille..

I chose this wool ( I already had it in my basket)

Excuse the glimmer of tinsel in the corner!

I got my tools together...

A (more than a) few hours later...

Ta daa!

 Have a lovely weekend!

Advent Challenge!

Good morning!

It has been raining all night and it is still pouring down, so I thought I would pretend that it's snow instead.

Have a lovely Thursday; 20.12.2012 - magic numbers today, make a wish!

Advent Challenge!

Hello!

Today's Advent calendar is inspired by me...I do this regularly. Dancing around my flat on my own is a particular 'skill' of mine.

What song are you closing your eyes and swirling around to today?

Making.

Every spare minute has been occupied recently making things for Christmas.

I expect you have been doing the same.

Making by hand isn't massive in my family. I suppose we have been absorbed into the materialistic behemoth that is now a commercial Christmas. But I am on a one woman mission to bring back an appreciation of time spent rather than money spent in my family....

Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I have made some little hand decorated and made notebooks for shopping lists, to do lists and all sorts of other things lists...

(sorry for the light switch!)

Shopping list notebook with a lovely beetroot - I love beetroot!

I also put together some Christmas drawstring bags out of a collection of Christmas fabric fat quarters I had. I have bought a collection of little things for some people and these keep them all together, and looking quite festive, I think.

I hand-stitched them. It didn't take too long. I don't have a sewing machine, and honestly, me and machinery do not usually work well together, so I'm probably better off hand sewing. I also find it quiet meditative.

A little bit of a change. My sister's birthday is on Christmas day, so I made this little embroidery to put up so everyone remembers that it is her special day too.

It is my first foray into embroidery of this kind. I really enjoyed it. It is a great, quick craft activity which has a great impact.

I hope you are still having fun making everything just so for your friends and family as we continue the build up to Christmas.

Have a lovely afternoon.

Advent Challenge!

Little ones, mistletoe and Christmas pudding. What more could you ask for?

Happy 18th day of Advent!

Advent Challenge!

Hello!

I know this is about the fourth tree of some kind I have done for my Advent challenge, but I love trees. Especially Christmas trees, I think they are magical.

I hope you have a super Sunday!

One of the wise men from my tree wanted to get in on the act...

Advent Challenge!

Morning!

We are already on the fifteenth day of Advent. Can you believe it?

I have had a sneaky morning watching cooking programmes in my pyjamas, so a food advent calendar image today...

..and a few clementines to balance out the Christmas pudding.

Have a great Saturday!

Oops..

I forgot my Friday photo....

Here we go, a little (lot) late.

Advent Challenge!

Happy fourteenth day of Advent!

Sending out great peace to you all today.

It is pouring with rain today, so it is raincoat and hood time here. I hope you have better weather where you are and at the very least that you are nice and dry.

Advent Challenge!

Good evening!

A late one again today.

I painted something this morning, but I wasn't happy with it. I almost gave up on the Advent Challenge.

I found one grain of creativity in my brain and drew this this evening. I didn't want to fail the challenge.

Inspired by my cousin's adoption of two cat sisters. I can't wait to meet them. Here is one of them getting in the festive spirit.

I hope you had a really great Thursday.

Miaow!

Advent Challenge!

Ah, I bet you thought I'd forgotten.

No, it's just taken me a little more time today and therefore, it's a little simpler than it has been. The sentiment, is, however, the same - Happy twelfth day of Advent everyone!

Have a lovely evening.

Advent Challenge!

Glitter reindeer introduces the eleventh day of Advent...

How cool is she, all gold and glittery! Her current BFF is Ms Egyptian cat.

I hope you enjoy this little retreat to the snow-covered woods today. I will spend the day dreaming of living in such an isolated spot in the middle of a forest, reading by the roaring fire.

Have a lovely day.

Hello everyone, hello Saturday, hello eighth day of advent!

This is casual Father Christmas, getting all the presents ready for the good boys and girls ;-).

I got a bit carried away with the glitter, I love a bit of sparkle.

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday lovelies!

Advent Challenge!

Morning, grey morning, good morning!

I hope, through the advent calendar, to bring you some peace and joy this morning...

This morning it is pitter-pattering with rain outside and it is very grey, but inside there are fairy lights and Christmas cheer and I am sure the Christmas angels are looking down upon us.

Handmade gifts.

Can you guess what they are yet!?

I don't profess to be any kind of crafty or crafting expert, but I do like to make things for people. So, this Christmas I have decided to make brooches for some of the lovely ladies in my family.

I'm really happy with the way they have turned out.

They are made from 100% wool felt, scraps of fabric and buttons from my button tin (those buttons you get in the little plastic bags attached to new purchases, are all my collection consists of. You'd be surprised how easily they build up!).

I cut a diamond template out of a cereal box. I used a ruler and everything, which is very unlike me. I drew around my template on the felt and fabric. I cut the felt out with fabric scissors and the fabric with pinking shears to stop too much fraying and to add a different shape to the brooch.

I hand sewed a brooch back on to the back of the largest felt piece. I got the brooch backs very inexpensively off amazon.

I placed the other two layers, positioned the button where I wanted and sewed through from the back up into the button and down again. I did this two to three times.

Et, voila!

I think they will look really great on a coat collar, adding a splash of colour to the usual blacks, browns and greys of winter coats.

Have you been handmaking any of your Christmas gifts?
